October 2024 Service Changes

Southside

Route 1 Granby Street – Route 1 will be realigned to terminate at Joint Expeditionary Base Little Creek (JEB). The existing Route 22 and realigned Route 36 will provide coverage loss by realigned Route 1. Route 22 will provide coverage between JEB and Shore Drive/Pleasure House Road and realigned Route 36 will provide coverage between Shore Drive/Pleasure House Road and Pembroke East.

Route 20 Virginia Beach Boulevard  On Saturdays, the break time on the first two morning inbound trips at Military Circle will be reduced. Improve the runtime between Military Circle and Virginia Beach Boulevard/Ingleside Road to the Downtown Norfolk Transit Center.

Route 22 Haygood – Improve weekday and Saturday span to 10:00 PM

Route 26 Lynnhaven – Saturday schedule adjustments.

Route 27 Northampton Boulevard (Diamond Springs Road) – Route 27 is realigned to operate between JEB Little Creek and the Newtown Road light rail station, no longer serving Shore Drive and Pleasure House Road. Weekday and Saturday schedule adjustments.

Route 29 Great Neck Rd. – Saturday schedule adjustments.

Route 33 General Booth Boulevard – Saturday schedule adjustments.

Route 36 Holland Road – Route 36 is extended to Shore Drive and Pleasure House Road north of Pembroke East. Route 36 will cover the Independence Boulevard corridor currently served by Route 1. Improve weekday and Saturday span to 5:00 AM to 12:00 AM

Route 41 Cradock – Route 41 is realigned, with Route 45 and Route 50 covering some of the service removed from Route 41. The weekday span will be improved to 5:00 AM to 10:00 PM and Saturday span will end at 9:00 PM

Route 43 Parkview – Route 43 will be eliminated, with its service covered by the realigned Routes 47 and 50.

Route 44 Midtown – Route 44 is realigned to operate along Airline Boulevard until Quailshire Lane. Route 44 will also provide service along Elmhurst Lane between Airline Boulevard and Garwood Avenue Monday through Friday between 6:00 AM and 4:00 PM. Service on Portsmouth Boulevard west of Turnpike Road will no longer be offered via Route 44 but will instead be served by the realigned Route 45. Saturday span will begin at 6:00 AM

Route 45 Portsmouth Boulevard – Route 45 is extended to Starmount Parkway and Jolliff Road. In Downtown Portsmouth, Route 45 will operate via Port Centre Parkway and Portsmouth Boulevard instead of via Effingham Street and Court Street (service along these corridors will be replaced with the realigned Route 41). Route 45 will provide 30 minute service Monday through Saturday between the Downtown Norfolk Transit Center and Starmount Parkway/Jolliff Road. Weekday and Saturday span is improved to end at 1:00 AM Improve Sunday span to 5:10 AM to 1:00 AM Service will operate hourly on Sunday.

Route 47 High Street – Route 47 is realigned to provide service between downtown Portsmouth and the Walmart/Frederick Boulevard commercial area. Sunday service will operate to College Drive and Lakeview Parkway. Hourly service will be provided daily.

Route 50 County Street/Victory Crossing – Route 50 is realigned to provide service to Parkview and areas of Cavalier Manor. Service on Greenwood Drive between Missy Elliott and Deep Creek, and County Street between Elm Avenue and Effingham Street will be eliminated. Sunday service will start at 8:00 AM

Route 57 Camelot – Service on Route 57 is discontinued on Airline Boulevard between Victory Boulevard and Quailshire Lane replaced by the realigned Route 44. Route 57 will continue to provide service between Victory Crossing and Robert Hall Boulevard.

Route 58 Bainbridge Boulevard – The construction on the High Rise Bridge affecting the Route 58 has been completed. As part of the October service changes, the route will resume service along Libertyville Road. Schedule adjustments departing Liberty Street/Seaboard Avenue.

Route 800 Light Rail – Monday – Sunday schedule adjustments.

Northside

Route 104 Marshall Avenue – The existing detour due to construction of a new school in Newport News will become the permanent alignment.

Route 108 Bland Boulevard – Route 108 will serve the new Newport News Transportation Center (Amtrak Station) off of Bland Boulevard between Warwick Boulevard and Campbell Road. The new station is located on Aspen Meadow Lane.

Route 118 Neil Armstrong – Route 118 will be revised to operate along Butler Farm Road to the new Coliseum Drive extension to Hampton Roads Center Parkway.

Route 405 Buckroe/Newport News Shipyard – Route 405 will service the bus stop 6110 at Mercury Blvd. and Salem Rd.

Route 430 Buckroe/Newport News Shipyard – Route 430 will service all bus stops on Warwick Blvd. and Washington Ave.

Route 961 Norfolk/Hampton/Newport News – The evening service span on Route 961 will be extended to midnight on weekday and Saturday.

Route 964 NNTC/Smithfield – The 3:40 pm trip will start at NNTC and then operate along Washington Avenue to North Gate.
