Portsmouth Memorial Day Parade
The Portsmouth Memorial Day Parade will take place along High Street on Monday, May 27, 2024. Due to road closures, the lineup for downtown Portsmouth will be moved to Wythe Street and Court Street (adjacent to the WAVY-10 building) from 9:30 AM until 12:30 PM. The routes 41, 43, 45, 47, 50, and 980 will detour as follows:

Chesapeake Memorial Day Ceremony
The City of Chesapeake will hold their Memorial Day ceremony at City Hall at 11:00AM, on Monday, May 27, 2024. During this time, the Routes 14 and 58 will not be able to service stop 0843 SHEA & CONQUEST in front of City Hall. Customers needing to board/alight these routes should go to stop 5903 CEDAR & HOLT.
Portsmouth Umoja Festival Detour
The annual Portsmouth Umoja Festival will take place at the Atlantic Union Bank Pavilion Friday, May 24, through Sunday, May 26, 2024. Portions of Bart Street and Crawford Circle will be closed to traffic. The Routes 41, 43, 45, 47, 50, and 980 will detour. Customers should expect delays due to increased traffic.

Harbor Park “Bark in the Park”
Harbor Park and the Norfolk Tides will host Bark in the Park on Tuesday, May 28, 2024. Customers are reminded that only service animals or pets secured in a carrier are allowed in HRT vehicles (bus, light rail, ferry) and facilities. Carriers must be able to fit either on the passenger’s lap or in the space in front of their feet. Carriers cannot take up another seat or block aisleways. Service Animals are defined here.
Route 13: Stop Service Adjustment
Due to ongoing construction, the Route 13 inbound will be unable to service stop 0863 Campostella & Arlington until further notice.
Routes 30, 33, 35 and 960: Pacific Avenue & 30th Street Construction Detour
Due to construction on Pacific Ave, the Routes 30, 33, 35 and 960 will detour until further notice. Customers needing to board/alight at Pacific Ave & 30th Street, must do so at stop 1486 Pacific & 28th or stop 1282 Pacific & 26th.

Route 964 Schedule Change
The Route 964 scheduled to depart from the North Yard at 2:40 PM, will now start at NNTC (Bay A-3) at 2:40 PM and then proceed to the North Yard.
Memorial Day
On Memorial Day, Hampton Roads Transit bus, light rail, Naval Station Norfolk Base Express, and paratransit will operate on a Saturday schedule. The ferry will operate on its regular Summer weekday schedule.
Transit center information booths and administrative facilities (ID badge, Lost & Found, etc.) will be closed. Customer Service will be available via phone from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM.
Route 45: Effingham Underpass Construction
Due to construction on Effingham Street at the I-264 interchange, the Route 45 going to the Norfolk Transit Center will detour until further notice. Customers should also expect possible delays.

Ferry Update: Revised Routing
Effective at 5:30 a.m. on Thursday, April 18, the following route adjustments will be in place to preserve a regular ferry schedule:
- The ferry’s Waterside stop will remain closed until HRT is notified by the city that the cordoned-off dock is safe to access. Instead, service between Portsmouth and Norfolk will dock only at the Harbor Park ferry landing.
- All ferry in Portsmouth will be consolidated to the High Street stop. The North Landing stop will not be used for the time being. The first ferry will depart from High Street at 5:30 a.m. on weekdays and 10 a.m. on weekends through Memorial Day, when some trips increase to 15-minute increments.
- Once passengers arrive at Harbor Park, they will be directed via signs along accessible walkways to The Tide light rail station at Harbor Park. From there, passengers can take The Tide westbound to downtown. Or passengers can access the Elizabeth River Trail from the ferry stop.
- Ferry service for Norfolk Tides baseball home games will leave Portsmouth at the High Street landing. The North Landing stop will not be used for Tides games until further notice. Parking is available at the Water Street parking garage, directly across the street from the High Street ferry dock. - Passengers traveling to Portsmouth from Norfolk can catch The Tide at any station to Harbor Park Station, then follow signs to the ferry.
- The current shuttle bus service between Waterside and Portsmouth will be discontinued with the last departures Wednesday night, April 17.
- Fares for the ferry will be honored on The Tide light rail so only one ticket is needed for the transfer. Proof of payment on light rail includes showing a pass, round-trip ticket or one-way ticket receipt.
While HRT understands the inconvenience to passengers due to the dock issue, this solution best preserves the vital ferry service while maintaining a regular schedule.
