Beat the winter blues with Hampton Roads Transit! We’re brightening up your season.

What We’re Doing

We’ve wrapped a light rail vehicle and two buses in a unique winter design. All season long, we’ll host a variety of events for you and your loved ones to ride the winter blues away.

How to Take a Ride

Event is free & open to the public. Registration is not required, but preferred.
Rides on the light rail are always $2 one-way, $4.50 all-day for adults and free for children, with a fare paying adult or a Student Freedom Pass.

Read & Ride Winter Adventure

Bring the kiddos along for the ride! Hampton Roads Transit and the Norfolk Public Library are hosting a storytime ride on the Tide. Special guests will join the fun – but you’ve got to be there to find out who! Recommended for children 2-4 years.

Read & Ride on the Tide: Galentine’s Edition

Bring your favorite book and your bestie for an evening on the Winter Wonderland Train!

We’re joining forces with the Norfolk Public Library. The ride will start at Newtown Road Light Rail Station, and we’ll stop at Freemason Street Station, walk a short distance to Cure Coffeehouse and grab a warm beverage or snack before heading back to Freemason  to continue our Read & Ride.
