Availability and options described are dependent upon category of employment. This information is intended as an overview of the benefits offered to employees. If you join the HRT team, you will receive a detailed description of the benefits package.
Medical Insurance Plans
Employees are eligible to enroll in the Optima Vantage Health Care Plan or the Optima Plus Health Care Plan. This provides employees and covered dependents the freedom to choose how they receive medical care in either plan selected. EyeMed Vision Services administers the vision care services benefit. Each member is eligible to receive a routine eye examination, refraction and prescription for eyeglass lens, once every 12 months, from an EyeMed network provider. $15 copayment is required at the time of service.
Dental Insurance Plans
Dominion Dental Services (DHMO PLAN) & Delta Care Services (DHMO PLAN) is a dental health maintenance organization, which covers preventive services and offers reduced fees for corrective services.
Delta Dental PPO plus Premier Plan offers the freedom to select any dentist you wish. However, your out-of-pocket cost may be lower when you select a dentist who participates with Delta Dental.
Avesis Vision provides a comprehensive vision benefit available to you and your family. You will pay the full cost of coverage. This plan is a $0 copay plan which provides an eye examination and lenses once every year, frames once every two years and contact lenses in lieu of glasses once very year.
Hampton Roads Transit provides eligible employees Basic Term Life Insurance through Minnesota Life, the coverage is set at two times the employee’s annual salary. Optional Group Term Life Insurance provides the opportunity to purchase additional employee coverage up to five times one’s salary along with optional coverage to ensure your spouse and/or children up to age 19 or 25 if a full-time student.
Virginia Retirement System (VRS) – Administrative employees hired effective January 1, 2014 or later are covered under the provisions of the VRS Hybrid Retirement Plan, special provision apply to remain in Plan 1 or Plan 2. The Hybrid Retirement Plan is funded through mandatory and voluntary contributions made by the employee and employer to both the defined benefit and the defined contribution components of the plan.
Employees covered under the Bargaining Contract will be enrolled in The Retirement Plan of the Transportation District Commission of Hampton Roads. Pursuant to the Collective Bargaining Agreement each participant shall contribute to the fund.
Section 457 Deferred Compensation Plan-ICMA-RC is a voluntary, tax-deferred retirement program that allows investing today for retirement with the flexibility to increase, decrease, stop, and restart contributions as often as you wish, without fees or penalties.
Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA’s) automatically pre-tax the premiums when employees enroll in the medical, dental and/or vision plan, with the option to waive participation. Employees can allocate pre-tax dollars to participant in the healthcare and/or dependent care spending account to pay for eligible expenses administered by Flexible Benefit Administrators.
Legal Resources® provides coverage for you, your spouse, and dependents on the most often needed legal services, protecting you and your family legal services. Whether your legal need is a routine service or comes as a result of an unexpected event, you’ll have immediate and ongoing access to a network of top-rated law firms in your area.
Colonial Life This coverage is voluntary, types of coverage offered include:
Short term disability is a means to help offset financial losses that result when employees are unable to work due to an accident or illness which last more than 7 days.
Life Insurance term, universal and show life plans.
Accident Insurance available to help offset direct and indirect expenses such as co-payments, deductibles and other costs not covered by traditional health plans resulting from accidents.
Cancer Insurance coverage to help pay for direct and indirect costs associated with these diseases
Employee Assistance Program (EAP) offered through Optima Health. Optimum EAP is a helpful resource that can be used to address life’s challenges, solve personal problems or tackle work-life related issues. Optima EAP’s is confidential, and is available to all employees at no cost up to five sessions per occurrence.
