Hampton Roads Transit Adds Light Rail Trips to Connect with Amtrak

NORFOLK, Va. — Hampton Roads Transit (HRT) is adding Tide light rail frequencies to better connect with Amtrak train service as part of its fall schedule adjustments starting Sunday, Oct. 12.

On Sundays, two additional evening light rail trips will be added westbound from Harbor Park Station to accommodate Amtrak passengers arriving at 8:35 p.m. with service toward downtown Norfolk.

Then, Mondays through Saturdays, an additional morning trip will be added both eastbound and westbound to connect with Amtrak’s daily 6:14 a.m. Northeast Regional departure to Richmond and Washington, D.C.

Harbor Park Station is located a short walk from Norfolk’s Amtrak station.

HRT’s full list of fall schedule changes includes adjustments to 27 bus routes on the Southside and Peninsula. For details, visit October 2025 Service Changes.
