CHESAPEAKE, Va. – Hampton Roads Transit (HRT) is hosting public pop-up events in July to share the next steps for Connecting Chesapeake: A Study of High-Capacity Transit.
HRT staff will discuss two transit alignment alternatives along with the recommended mode of transportation to enhance the city’s economy, align with future growth plans, and improve connectivity to the regional transportation network.
If approved by the Chesapeake City Council, a second study would then narrow down alternatives to one choice for the city to approve.
HRT has been meeting with small groups, customers and area businesses over the last two years to gain feedback and ideas for redefining the future of transit in Chesapeake. The next steps will be provided at the following pop-up events:
- Tuesday, July 8 from 7-9 a.m., Downtown Norfolk Transit Center.
- Wednesday, July 9 from 7-9 a.m., Liberty & Seaboard Transfer Center, Chesapeake.
- Thursday, July 10 from 7-9 a.m., Robert Hall Transfer Center, Robert Hall Boulevard, Chesapeake.
- Tuesday, July 15 from 4-6 p.m., Robert Hall Transfer Center, Chesapeake.
- Wednesday, July 16 from 4-6 p.m., Downtown Norfolk Transit Center.
- Thursday, July 17 from 4-6 p.m., Liberty & Seaboard Transfer Center, Chesapeake.
