WHAT:
Hampton Roads Transit (HRT) re-introduces OnDemand microtransit with kickoff events in Newport News and Virginia Beach. Following a successful trial in 2022-23, this second pilot resumes in both cities with free fares for the first two weeks. Media are invited to take a demo ride on the first day of this ridesharing service.

Two locations to choose from, each with an identical program:
- Newport News: 10 a.m. at Newport News City Center Fountain, 716 Town Center Drive, directly across from the intersection of Town Center Drive and Fountain Way.
- Virginia Beach: 2 p.m. at Virginia Beach Town Center’s Fountain Plaza, 197 Central Park Ave., directly across from the intersection of Central Park Avenue and Main Street.

Elected and city officials, business leaders, HRT President and CEO William Harrell, and representatives from Via, operators of OnDemand.
