HRT to Collect Hurricane Relief Supplies in Hampton, Norfolk

HAMPTON and NORFOLK, Va. – Hampton Roads Transit (HRT) is partnering with Virginia Beach-based humanitarian organization Operation Blessing on Oct. 29 and 30 to collect much-needed supplies to help victims of recent hurricanes across seven states.

Operation Blessing is seeking new and unopened diapers (infant to adult), feminine hygiene products, wipes and infant formula as people recover from storm and flood damage.

To make it easy for the public to donate, HRT is conducting Operation Hurricane Relief with employee volunteers accepting items at VB Wave trolleys parked outside two locations from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. on both days:

“We encourage the community and our employees to come out and pack our iconic trolleys with urgent supplies to help those in need,” said William E. Harrell, HRT’s President and CEO.

HRT will deliver all donations to Operation Blessing’s warehouse following the two-day event. The collection drive is an initiative of HRT Cares, an employee group supporting fellow employees and community organizations.
