HAMPTON and NEWPORT NEWS, Va. — September is National Hunger Action Month. To bring awareness to this effort, Hampton Roads Transit (HRT) is partnering with the Virginia Peninsula Foodbank to host food drives at both the Hampton and Newport News Transit Centers on Sept. 5 and 6.
Food collections will be held on both days at two locations for your convenience:
- Newport News Transit Center, Sept. 5 and 6 from 5 a.m.-8 p.m. at 150 35th St.
- Hampton Transit Center, Sept. 5 and 6 from 5 a.m.-8 p.m. at 2 West Pembroke Ave.
Donations of non-perishable foods such as canned goods, peanut butter, jelly, pastas and rice are requested.
The Virginia Peninsula Foodbank serves people in Newport News, Hampton, Williamsburg, James City County, Gloucester, Mathews, York, Poquoson and Surry.
