Bike Boost Program Seeking Applicants for Bike Amenities – Hampton Roads Transit

Bike Boost Program Seeking Applicants for Bike Amenities

NORFOLK, Va. — TRAFFIX, a commuter options program administered by Hampton Roads Transit (HRT), is seeking your help to find new locations to install bike racks and bike repair stations as part of its Bike Boost program to enhance cycling infrastructure throughout Hampton Roads.

“By providing cycling amenities, we actively support organizations and communities in promoting cycling as a sustainable transportation option,” said Amy Jordan, executive director of TRAFFIX. “Together, we’re creating a more bike-friendly community – one repair station at a time.”

Applications are now open through September. To apply, visit https://gotraffix.com/bikeboost/.

The website outlines the application process, selection criteria, installation requirements, maintenance expectations, and other details for potential recipients of bike amenities. Respondents will be asked how the new bike amenity will benefit local commuters and reduce traffic.

Bike Boost recipients are responsible for yearly checks and servicing to ensure functionality and safety and procuring and installing necessary replacement parts. To help celebrate each station, TRAFFIX will host a ribbon-cutting and provide organizations the opportunity to display their logos. Installations are completed by April 1.

Bike Boost program amenities are currently in place at eight locations in four cities throughout the region. They are typically located near bike lanes and trails, transit stops and other bike-friendly locations.
