NORFOLK, VA – Hampton Roads Transit is proud to announce its President and CEO, William Harrell has been honored by the Hampton Roads Chapter of the Women’s Transportation Seminar (WTS).
WTS Hampton Roads held its 13th annual reception and silent auction on Thursday, November 2, 2023, in Virginia Beach. During the reception, WTS honored several award winners, including William Harrell, President and CEO at Hampton Roads Transit, who received the Honorable Ray LaHood Award.
The Honorable Ray LaHood Award is an annual award intended to honor a “man of the year” who has been key to advancing the WTS mission to attract, retain, and advance women in transportation and for overall outstanding contributions to the transportation industry.

HRT’s Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, and Accessibility (IDEA) Committee was also honored during the awards ceremony. The committee was given the Rosa Parks Diversity Leadership Award for its work toward ensuring the agency creates an inclusive environment that promotes equity in the workplace.
