Jobs That Will Surprise and Challenge – Hampton Roads Transit

Jobs That Will Surprise and Challenge

NORFOLK –A project manager, a budget analyst, even an information technology security administrator. Don’t sound like transit jobs, do they? But they are – and we have many more openings here, all with competitive pay.

As transit boardings slowly recover to their pre-pandemic levels, the need for trained personnel to help keep the region’s public transit agency running continues to gain momentum across the agency.

The demand for bus and rail operators plus mechanics may be as high as it’s ever been and HRT continues to offer signing bonuses for those jobs. Successful applicants for bus trainee positions will receive a $5,000 service bonus paid out over the initial period of employment.

HRT already is planning for the summer season and will host a career fair on Friday, February 3, at our administrative building, 509 E. 18th Street, in Norfolk, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. HRT offers full medical, vision, dental and pension plans for qualifying full-time employees.

The agency also offers paid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) training, a preparation course to take the CDL exam, and room for advancement. On-the-spot interviews will be available at the job fair. Positions are available in Norfolk, Hampton, and Virginia Beach.

Can’t make the Feb. 3 event? We have others planned for the following dates and locations.

March 10th , 509 E. 18th Street, Building 4, Norfolk
