Riding Transit

Does riding transit seem overwhelming? We’re here to help!

Here are some of our best tips for parents and youth to confidently ride transit:

  • Review route schedules: All our digital route schedules feature stop times and a map showing where the bus is located along the route.
  • Ride the route together: Take some time to ride the route your students or children will ride before they ride alone. Don’t forget – all 17 & under ride free with a fare paying adult!
  • Discuss safety tips: Discuss with your child some ways to stay safe, including standing away from the edge of platforms or bus stops, avoiding distractions like phones or headphones, and keeping an eye on personal belongings.

Hampton Roads Transit has these additional resources available to help you – and the next generation – feel empowered navigating transit in Hampton Roads and beyond.
