How to get a Discounted Fare ID Card

  • Disabled applicants should have their physician complete the application.
  • Seniors (65 years or older) and Medicare card holders do not have to complete the application. Just bring your ID and/or Medicare Card.
  • Discounted Fare IDs are processed at the Hampton Transit Center and at the HRT Administration Building,
    Monday–Friday 8:00 a.m.–4:30 p.m.
  • All applicants must bring in a passport size photo (see the application for requirements).
  • There is no fee to process and create the ID card.
  • There is a $15 fee for replacement ID cards.

How to ride using the Discounted Fare Discount

Senior citizens (age 65 and over), persons with disabilities or Medicare Cardholders must present one of the following valid forms of identification to receive the Discounted Fare on HRT’s bus, light rail and ferry service:

  • HRT Discounted Fare ID Card
  • HRT ADA Certification Card (with photo identification)
  • Medicare Card (with photo identification)

Examples of photo identification are as follows:

  • State-issued driver’s license
  • State-issued identification card
  • Non-expired passport
