Clean Up Form

Join Hampton Roads Transit in our annual Community Clean Up!

Hampton Roads Transit’s Community Clean Up program is back for all of April 2025. Join us in keeping our transit system clean and efficient!

How it Works

  1. Complete the interest form. Tell us who you are, your top clean-up location choices, and when you’ll be participating.
  2. Arrange for item pickup. A member of the Hampton Roads Transit team will reach out to arrange picking up safety vests, trash bags, and gloves for you and your clean up team.
  3. Do your clean up! Arrive at your clean up location on the date/time you chose wearing your safety vest and ready to give back to your community.

During Your Clean Up

On your clean up day, remember to follow all safety guidelines. Our transit centers and bus stops are active with cars, buses, trucks, and pedestrians – always be mindful of any traffic and our passengers’ use of our amazing amenities!

Did you know all Hampton Roads Transit services are fare-free on Earth Day? That’s right! You can ride free bus, light rail, ferry, Paratransit, and On Demand Rideshare services all day on Tuesday, April 22!

    PARTICIPATION WAIVER AND RELEASE

    By checking this box, I certify that: (1) I have reviewed, understand and agree to comply with the HRT Earth Day Community Clean-up Terms and Conditions; (2) I understand and voluntarily assume any and all risks arising out of or related to my participation in the HRT Earth Day Community Clean-up program; e.g., broken glass, uneven ground, trip hazards, exposure to bio-hazards, etc.; (3) I, TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WAIVE AND FOREVER RELEASE HAMPTON ROADS TRANSIT FROM ANY AND ALL CLAIMS, DEMANDS, LIABILITIES, AND/OR CAUSES OF ACTION, KNOWN OR UNKNOWN, THAT I MAY CURRENTLY HAVE OR MAY HAVE IN THE FUTURE AGAINST HAMPTON ROADS TRANSIT RELATED TO MY PARTICIPATION IN THE HRT EARTH DAY COMMUNITY CLEAN-UP PROGRAM; and (4) I will immediately notify my Group Leader if I believe that I have been injured during cleanup activities. Minors under the age of 18, must have parent/guardian fill out agreement and must be accompanied by a parent/guardian for supervision during the event. Failure to do so will result in non-compliance and immediate removal from the Earth Day Community Clean-up program.
