Winter Storm Service Update: Suspension of Service: Friday, February 21, 2025

Hampton Roads Transit (HRT) will continue to suspend all services on Friday, Feb. 21 due to continued weather conditions that include icy roads, high snowbanks, inaccessible bus stops and unplowed secondary roads.

Suspended service affects all systemwide bus routes, paratransit service, the Tide Light Rail, Elizabeth River Ferry, OnDemand ridesharing and the Base Express at Naval Station Norfolk.

HRT will announce service details for Saturday service on Friday.

“Safety is our top concern, and we realize this decision will inconvenience our customers, particularly those who rely on us to get to work,” said William E. Harrell, President and CEO. “We are doing what’s in the best interest to protect our customers, operators, staff and assets while allowing the six cities we serve time to plow and treat roads. It is simply unsafe to provide service on Friday, particularly given the anticipated refreezing of snow and ice, but we are working hard to be ready when conditions improve.”
