Newport News Shipyard (NNSY) Shift Change

On Monday, January 6, 2025, the Huntington Ingalls Shipyard in Newport News will change its 1^st shift hours to 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM.  However, HRT will (given scheduling and resource constraints) continue to adhere to its current/existing schedule.  The existing morning and afternoon schedule for the Routes 405, 414, 430, 921, 961, 964, 966, 967, and 972 will accommodate the shift change.  However, customers are forewarned that the morning trips will arrive at the Shipyard as much as one hour before the 1^st shift begins.  Customers should also expect heavy demand for the afternoon trips and some buses in the afternoon may be full.  HRT does not have additional operators to support additional buses in support of the Shipyard shift change at this time.  HRT will make the resource and schedule adjustments to better accommodate the shift change during its May 2025 service board.  Lastly, the existing schedule for the Routes 403 and 415 afternoon trips will not accommodate the shift change. Customers will need to pursue alternative transportation for the afternoon return trip.
