About the Trip Planner

The Google Transit Trip Planner on the GoHRT home page enables you to enter the specifics of your trip — such as your origin and your destination, and the time of day you’d like to leave and/or arrive. Using all available public transportation schedules, it plots the most efficient itinerary. You can even compare the cost of your trip with the cost of driving the same route.

Privacy & Security of Personal Information

The Transportation District Commission of Hampton Roads utilizes information systems to provide its customers with services. HRT management recognizes and accepts the importance of information security and privacy as a critical element of the successful operation of Hampton Roads Transit.

Terms and Conditions of Use

Please see the Google Transit Terms and Conditions. HRT strives to provide quality information through Google Transit, but cannot guarantee 100% accuracy. This is a new and experimental service that is still being refined both by Google and participating transit agencies. It is recommended that riders double-check trip itineraries with the bus schedules published on

If You Receive Incorrect, Misleading, or Confusing Itinerary

If your trip itinerary has inaccurate stop location, time, fare, or service schedule information, it’s probably because of misinformation between HRT and Google Transit. Record the origin, destination and arrival/departure date and time for your itinerary and contact Customer Service about the problem you experienced.

Only through your continued use and feedback can we make the Trip Planner better for everyone.

Things to Consider When Using Google Transit

Some routes may be drawn as straight lines from stop-to-stop, and not follow the actual route of the bus on the roads. We are working to improve this.

The Trip Planner may provide two or three suggested trip plans. We recommend you always check these alternative trip plans as they may provide a trip that better meets your needs.

Walking directions and times can be inaccurate, sometimes suggesting walking across impassable obstacles. Google is working to improve walking directions.

The Trip Planner may not always be able to calculate the full fare cost for lengthy trips, and in these cases it may not provide a cost.

Given infrequent service intervals and long distances between stops in some of the more outlying services areas, the Trip Planner may suggest a longer trip in order to get you to your destination sooner. You may find trying a different departure or arrival time in the Options choice produces a better trip plan.
