Ray Amoruso is HRT’s Chief Planning and Development Officer. He is responsible for overseeing Service Planning and Scheduling as well as Transit Development, Business Development, Grants Administration and System Performance Analysis. Mr. Amoruso has thirty years of public transportation experience in the public and private sectors. He has extensive public sector experience, including six years with the Denver Regional Transportation District (RTD) where he served as Manager of Systems Planning, and 10 years with the New York City Department of Transportation as Chief of Surface Planning and Policy.
While at Denver RTD, Mr. Amoruso managed the first extension of light rail transit from downtown Denver to its southwestern suburbs. At the New York City Department of Transportation, he implemented several surface transit bus lane projects for midtown Manhattan that were predecessors to modern day Bus Rapid Transit projects.
Mr. Amoruso is a graduate from the City University of New York and holds degrees in Urban Studies & Planning. He is currently a member of APTA’s Major Capital Investment Committee.
