VB Wave Service Revisions

In preparation for the upcoming summer season, the following revisions will be made to the VB Wave service.

VB Wave Route 32 (Lynnhaven Mall/ Shoppers Shuttle)

Due to low ridership, this route has been eliminated. Key destinations in the service area may still be accessed through HRT’s fixed route and MAX transit service; including:

  • Hilltop Shopping area via Route 20
  • Lynnhaven Mall via the Route 20 and transfer to Route 29
  • MOCA via MAX service – Route 960  via transit stop near Parks Ave & 20th Street.
  • Rudee Inlet – VB Wave Route 30 & 31

VB Wave Route 35 (New!)

Route 35 will provide service (May 21st through October 1st) between Arctic Avenue/19th Street and Shore Drive/Vista Circle in Virginia Beach.  Route 35 will service the Oceanfront, First Landing State Park, North End beaches, Chesapeake Bay beaches and Bayfront restaurants on Shore Drive.

Daily service will be provided every 45 minutes from 8:00 am to midnight from May to Labor Day.  From September 8, 2017 to October 1, 2017, Route 35 will operate on Friday, Saturday and Sunday every 45 minutes from 8:00 am to midnight.

Hampton Blvd Temporary Stop Discontinuations

Due to ongoing construction on Hampton Boulevard and safety issues the following Route 2 and 21 bus stops cannot be serviced until further notice:

Shared Stops

Hampton Boulevard & Staff College(0250)
Hampton Boulevard & Little Creek(0252)

Route 2 Inbound Only (towards ODU/Norfolk General)

Hampton & Runnymede(0253)
Hampton & North Shore (0254)

Route 2 passengers may board/disembark at Hampton & Baker or Hampton & Helena. Route 21 Patrons may board/disembark at Hampton & Baker or Little Creek & Baylor.

Norfolk Naval Station Detour

Due to the permanent closure of Gates 3A & 5 on weekdays after 7:00 pm and all day on weekends, detours will go into effect for Routes 2 and 21.

Route 2

On Saturday and Sunday, the Route 2 will no longer provide service inside of Norfolk Naval Station or to the Piers. It will remain on Hampton Blvd to provide service to/from the Naval Exchange Mall.

Route 21

On Weekdays after 6:30 PM and on the weekend, the Route 21 will no longer provide service inside of Norfolk Naval Station or to the Piers. It will remain on Hampton Blvd to provide service to/from the Naval Exchange Mall.
