Route 45: Effingham Underpass Construction

Due to construction on Effingham Street at the I-264 interchange, the Route 45 going to the Norfolk Transit Center will detour until further notice. Customers should also expect possible delays.

Due to special circumstances, effective immediately, the Elizabeth River Ferry will suspend its regular service until further notice. Bus shuttle service will be provided between the impacted ferry landings.

Route 1 Granby Street   Schedule adjustments.

Route 2 Hampton Boulevard – Schedule adjustments.

Route 3 Chesapeake Boulevard – Schedule adjustments.

Route 6 South Norfolk – Schedule adjustments.

Route 8 Tidewater Drive  – Schedule adjustments.

Route 9 Sewells Point Road  – Schedule adjustments.

Route 13 Campostella Road – Schedule adjustments. Route 13 will be extended on Sunday to Robert Hall and Summit Pointe between 7:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m.

Route 14 Battlefield Boulevard – Schedule adjustmentsThe weekday and Saturday service span will be extended to 10:00 p.m. Sunday service will be introduced from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.

Route 15 Military Highway – Schedule adjustments. Service will begin earlier on Sunday traveling to/from Robert Hall.

Route 18 Ballentine Boulevard – Schedule adjustments.

Route 20 Virginia Beach Boulevard – Schedule adjustments.

Route 21 Little Creek Road – Schedule adjustments.

Route 23 Princess Anne Road –  Schedule adjustments.

Route 24 Kempsville Road – Schedule adjustments.

Route 26 Lynnhaven Mall  – Schedule adjustments.

Route 27 Northampton Boulevard – Schedule adjustments.

Route 30 Atlantic Avenue – Implement seasonal service.

Route 31 Aquarium & Campground – Implement seasonal service.

Route 33 General Booth Boulevard  – Schedule adjustments. The weekday and Saturday service span will be extended to 12:00 a.m.

Route 34 Oceanfront Connector  – Service on Route 34 will be eliminated due to low ridership.

Route 35 Bayfront  – Implement seasonal service and restore 30-minute service daily. Route 35 will no longer provide service from Atlantic Avenue/2nd Street. The route will instead operate between Parks Avenue/19th Street and Shore Drive/Pleasure House Road.

Route 36 Holland Road  – Schedule adjustments.

Route 41 Cradock  – Schedule adjustments.

Route 43 Park View  – Schedule adjustments.

Route 44 Midtown  – Schedule adjustments. Route 44 will terminate at Victory Crossing and no longer loop around Tidewater Community College on weekdays and Saturdays after 7:00 p.m. and all day on Sunday.

Route 45 Portsmouth Boulevard – Schedule adjustments. Route 45 will terminate at Victory Crossing and no longer loop around Tidewater Community College on weekdays and Saturdays after 7:00 p.m. and all day on Sunday.

Route 47 High Street  – Schedule adjustments.

Route 50 Downtown Portsmouth/Victory Crossing – Schedule adjustments.

Route 57 Camelot – Route 57 will provide service along Elmhurst Lane between Airline Boulevard and Garwood Avenue Monday through Friday between 6:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. to provide closer service to Shared Hospital Services located at 3530 Elmhurst Lane in Portsmouth.

Route 58 Bainbridge  – Schedule adjustments.

Northside

Route 108 Bland Boulevard – On Saturday and Sunday, Route 108 will operate every 60 minutes along the full length of the route, from Lee Hall to Patrick Henry Mall to Fishing Point (City Center), Riverside Medical Center, and Christopher Newport University.

403 Buckroe Shopping Center/Newport News Shipbuilding/NNTC  – Schedule adjustment to accommodate the 2:30 p.m. shift at Newport News Shipyard.

405 Buckroe Shopping/Newport News Shipbuilding/NNTC –  Schedule adjustments to accommodate the 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. shift at Newport News Shipyard.

415 Denbigh Fringe/NNTC – Schedule adjustments to accommodate the 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. shift at Newport News Shipyard.

Route 430 Denbigh Fringe/Newport News Shipbuilding/NNTC – One morning trip will be added to Route 430 Monday through Friday. The new trip will arrive at Newport News Shipyard before 6:00 a.m.

Route 919 Virginia Beach/Norfolk Naval Station Norfolk –  Route 919 will be eliminated.

Route 922 Chesapeake/Virginia Beach/Naval Station Norfolk – Route 922 will be eliminated.

Route 960 Norfolk/Virginia Beach – Schedule adjustments.  Route 960 will no longer operate through downtown Norfolk due to low ridership.

Route 961 Norfolk/Hampton/Newport News  – Schedule adjustments to accommodate the 6:00 a.m. shift at Newport News Shipyard.

Route 964 Smithfield/Newport News  – Schedule adjustments to accommodate the 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. shift at Newport News Shipyard.

Route 966 Virginia Beach/Newport News  – Schedule adjustments to accommodate the 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. shift at Newport News Shipyard.

Route 967 Norfolk/Virginia Beach/Chesapeake/Newport News  – Schedule adjustments to accommodate the 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. shift at Newport News Shipyard.

Hampton Transit Center Information Booth Early Closure

Starting Friday, April 12, 2024, the information booth at the Hampton Transit Center will close daily at 2:30 PM, until further notice . Tickets may be purchased via the ticket vending machine in the lobby. Route information and schedules are always available online at gohrt.com or 757-222-6100.

NATO Parade Downtown Detour

The City of Norfolk and NATO are hosting the annual Parade of Nations in conjunction with the Virginia International Tattoo on Saturday April 20, 2024.

Beginning at 7:30 AM, portions of downtown Norfolk will be closed to traffic until approximately 12:00 PM.  The Routes 6, 45, & 960  will be affected and will not service the MacArthur Light Rail Station bus stop on City Hall Avenue during this event. All MacArthur Station passengers must board/disembark at the Route 8 bus stop 6094 BANK & PLUME located in front of the Fountain Park Garage. The routes will detour as follows:

Route 20: Virginia Beach and First Colonial Stop Adjustment

Due to construction, the Route 20 will be unable to service stop 1085 First Colonial Rd and Laskin Rd.  Until further notice, customers needing to board/alight the outbound Route 20 will have to do so at the bus shelter at stop 1086 First Colonial Rd and Donna Dr, adjacent to Target.

Ride The Tide for Free on Norfolk Tides Home Game Nights

Hampton Roads Transit (HRT) and the Norfolk Tides have announced a new partnership for all home games at Harbor Park in 2024. For all home games of the season, Norfolk Tides fans can show their game ticket for that evening’s game for a free ride on The Tide light rail to and from the stadium.

The free rides are available two hours prior to and after the game and are valid for all scheduled home games listed on the Tides 2024 schedule. Fans can purchase game tickets at the Harbor Park box office or online at NorfolkTides.com/Tickets.

Free Fare for Earth Day Celebration!

Hampton Roads Transit will celebrate Earth Day on Monday, April 22, 2024. As part of this celebration, all HRT services (bus, 757 Express, light rail, ferry, and paratransit) will be free for the entire service day. This fare exemption does not apply to customers using Guaranteed Ride Program services on Earth Day. Please invite your friends, family, and neighbors to try public transit.

Norfolk State Light Rail Station Westbound Stairwell Out of Service

At the Norfolk State Light Rail Station, the Westbound stairwell (side closest to the bus shelters) is out of service until further notice. Please use the Westbound elevator to access the Light Rail platform.

Route 29: Virginia Beach and First Colonial Stop Adjustment

Due to construction, the Route 29 will be unable to service stop 3790 Virginia Beach and First Colonial (adjacent to Wawa) until further notice. Customers needing to board/alight this route will need to go to stop 1086 First Colonial and Donna (adjacent to Target).
