Due to construction on Tidewater Dr the Route 8 heading towards Evelyn T Butts will detour as follows until Saturday, February 20th.  Temporary stops will be placed on Central Business Park Dr.

George Washington’s Birthday

Effective: Monday, February 15th, 2016

On George Washington’s Birthday, Hampton Roads Transit Administration Offices & Transit Centers will be closed.

Customer Service will be open from 9:00 AM until 4:00 PM.

Hampton Roads Transit Buses, Light Rail and Ferry will run on a regular weekday schedule,

There will be no service on the MAX Routes 918/919, 922 and 965 .

Route 12 Stop Elimination

Effective: Wednesday, January 27th, 2016

Due to safety concerns the outbound (to TCC) stop located at Indian River and Stockton has been eliminated. Patrons heading to TCC will need to board at either Indian Lakes & Halifax or Lynnhaven Pkwy & Thamesford.

Newtown Road Light Rail Platform Maintenance

Effective: Thursday, December 24th, 2015

Over the next several days, Hampton Roads Transit will be conducting some maintenance and construction on the Newtown Road Light Rail Station Platform. Due to this the entrance closest to the Ticket Vending Machines will be closed. Patrons may still board/disembark from the opposite end of the platform.

Route 20 Stop Reactivation

Downtown Norfolk Transit Center Opening

Effective: Sunday, January 17th, 2016

In conjunction with the January Service changes, all routes servicing the Downtown Norfolk area will transition over to the new Downtown Norfolk Transfer Center, located just south of the Norfolk Fire Station.

Patrons are advised that with the change, the shelters and restroom facilities along Wood St will be closed & removed.

January Service Changes

Effective: Sunday, January 17th, 2016

Jnuary 17th

 

Routes 106 & 107

Minor service adjustments to improve schedule adherence.

Route 110

Route 110 will depart Thomas Nelson Community College on Sundays at 55 minute after the hour to make transfer connections at Hampton Transit Center.

Route 112

Route 112 will be revised to provide service from Newport News Transportation Center (NNTC) to Patrick Henry Mall via Jefferson Ave., with stops at Net Center and Fishing Point Dr.

Service to Riverside Regional Medical Center and Christopher Newport University will be discontinued by Route 112 and added to Route 119.

Service frequency will improve from 35 to 30 minutes Monday through Saturday.

Route 112 will no longer operate the 5:30 am trip from NNTC to Canon.

Route 119

Route 119 will be modified to provide service from Fishing Point Dr. to Christopher Newport University and Riverside Regional Medical Center.  Service to Patrick Henry Mall will be discontinued by Route 119 and added to Route 112. 

Segments along Cannon Boulevard, Oyster Point Boulevard and Criston Drive will be eliminated. Limited service will be provided to the Canon facility daily. Please be advised that on these special trips no patrons will be allowed to board/disembark inside the Canon facility. Boarding/disembarking will be done exclusively at exit side of the Canon Gate.

 Saturday and Sunday service will be added to Route 119 and the service hours will be extended daily.

Portsmouth Downtown Transfer Area

Half Fare ID Processing Change

Effective: Monday, November 2nd, 2015

Hampton Roads Transit is making the following changes to the Half Fare ID process. Youth, Seniors, Medicare and Paratransit riders will no longer be required to complete an application. These patrons will be required to bring a passport style photo along with the items listed below to an ID processing location:

Category Verification Required
Senior Valid Photo ID verifying age is 65 and older
Youth Parent/Guardian with Valid Photo ID +
documentation of youth’s age being 17 and under
Medicare Valid Photo ID + Medicare Card
Paratransit Valid Photo ID + Paratransit Rider Card

Persons with disabilities must have an application completed by their physician; (Veteran’s may have it completed by VA Administration). Starting November 2nd, all applications will be certified and returned to the patron upon the processing of the ID.  Applications can be obtained online on our website by the patient’s physician, or maybe picked up at any HRT Transit Center.

Patrons needing a replacement ID will need to return to one of the ID Processing locations listed below with the certified application (if applicable), a passport style photo and pay the $ 15 replacement fee
